Anti-11[E]-pyroglutamate-modified amyloid beta antibodies cross-react with other pathological Abeta species: relevance for immunotherapy.
|
| description: |
The epitope was modified by cyclization of the N-terminal glutamate resulting in a peptide bearing an amino-terminal pyroglutamate.
The epitope inhibited binding of anti-epitope sera to itself. Similar results were observed in Western blot and dot blot. The epitope also inhibited binding of anti-eptiope sera to amyloid aggregates in brain tissue of Alzheimer's disease patients.
