High antigen levels do not preclude B-cell tolerance induction to alpha1,3-Gal via mixed chimerism.
|
| description: |
The ELISA titer of anti-alpha-Gal sera IgM and the number of splenic B cells secreting anti-alpha-Gal IgM in GalT KO mice that had received non-myeloablative conditioning and bone marrow (alpha-Gal+) transplant implantation were not augmented after immunization with rabbit red blood cells (RBC) that are high densitiy alpha-Gal+. This results implies that exposure to high levels of alpha-Gal does not impair alpha-Gal-specific B-cell tolerance after establishment of mixed chimerism in GalT KO recipient mice.
