Amyloid beta protein in rat soleus muscle in chloroquine-induced myopathy using end-specific antibodies for A beta 40 and A beta 42: immunohistochemical evidence for amyloid beta protein.
|
| description: |
The epitope sequence is from the reference cited : Kang et al. (1987) Nature 325:733-736 [PMID: 2881207].
The epitope specific antibody BC40, which recognizes Aß1-40, immunostained vacuoles in sections of soleus muscle from adult rats which were denervated by ligation of the sciatic nerve and then treated with chloroquine for 14 days to induce myopathy. Absorption of the mAb with Aß1-40 abolished the staining. The authors concluded that the affected rat fibers contained cleaved Aß and Aß 1-42 predominated over Aß 1-40, as shown by greater staining with BC42, which recognizes Aß1-42, versus BC40.
