name:
Human natural anti-Gal IgG regulates alternative complement pathway activation on bacterial surfaces.
description:
Affinity purified epitope-reactive antibodies bound to a serum-sensitive Serratia marcescens isolate and increased complement-dependent lysis of this isolate. However, when anti-epitope antibodies bound to an isolate of Serratia marcescens isolated from blood, the antibodies blocked the complement dependent lysis and made the organism serum-resistant.
