Peptide mimics as surrogate immunogens of mosquito midgut carbohydrate malaria transmission blocking targets.
|
| description: |
This peptide mimics the glycan epitope recognized by the mAb MG96 in mosquito midgut. A screen of glycan array identified mannose-alpha(1&ndash
6) and N-acetyllactosamine glycans as principal components of the MG96 epitope but the complete oligosaccharide structure has not yet been confirmed.
Antibodies raised against the mimotope detected components of mosquito midgut lysates. MG96, the monoclonal antibody used to select the mimotope from a phage display library recognized similar but more diverse components indicating only a partial functional mimicry.
