Adduction of cholesterol 5,6-secosterol aldehyde to membrane-bound myelin basic protein exposes an immunodominant epitope.
|
| description: |
The epitope-specific mAb recognized the immunodominant epitope on MBP incorporated into large unilamellar vesicles. Inclusion of cholesterol 5,6-secosterols, atheronal-A or atheronal-B, increased the level of mAb binding in a concentration-dependent manner. Oxysterol atheronal analogues did not have a similar effect.
