name:
The alpha-L-(1----2)-trirhamnopyranoside epitope on the group-specific polysaccharide of group B streptococci.
description:
The epitope is part of the cell wall polysaccharide of Group B streptococci. This epitope refers to a non-reducing end terminal L-rhamnose, since the location of this residue in other location is not what was assesed to deduce this epitope.
The epitope was the most effective of several related oligosaccharides in inhibiting the reactivity of the anti-group B streptococcus antisera to the type-specific polysaccharide in ELISA and immunoprecipitation assays. For the ELISA, the antisera was previously purified by affinity chromatography to the trisaccharide a-L-Rhap-(1-2)-a-L-Rhap-(1-2)-a-L-Rha.
