The N-propylated alpha-2-8-sialic acid oligosaccharide is an analog of the acetylated species found as part of the capsular polysaccharide of N. meningiditis group B and of E. coli K1.
The epitope-specific mAb induced a 99% reduction in the Group B meningoccal CFU counts isolated from mice that had received passive transfer of 100 ug of antibody, and a 92% and 79% reductions in those that received 10 ug and 2 ug, respectively.
