This peptide, along with others sharing the GTHPXL consensus motif, mimics the surface proteophosphoglycans (PPGs, a.k.a. lipophosphoglycan) of Entamoeba histolytica in its reactivity to an anti-PPG monoclonal antibody, EH5.
The epitope-specific mAb reactivity to the epitope is inhibited by the membrane preparation of E. histolytica used to generate the mAb.
