name:
A neutralizing antibody selected from plasma cells that binds to group 1 and group 2 influenza A hemagglutinins.
description:
The epitope was deduced.
Passive transfer of 10 mg/kg of body weight of epitope-reactive antibody F16 protected mice lethally infected with A/Puerto Rico/8/1934(H1N1) virus. Passive transfer of F16 also reduced body weight loss. Fc mutants of F16 that lacked complement binding were fully protective, whereas F16 mutants that lacked complement and Fc receptor binding protected only 40% of the animals.
