The myristylated epitope derivatized to hepatitis B surface antigen synthesized in CHO cells and containing preS2 sequences elicited antibodies to the epitope. The free epitope in CFA or the myristylated peptide in IFA also elicited antibodies to the epitope. The unmodified epitope chemically linked to CHO-HBsAg did not elicit antibodies to the epitope.
