The epitope sequence was previously described in van Houten et al. (2010) Vaccine: 28: 2174-2185 [PMID:22056188] and Harris et al. (1997) Proc Natl Acad Sci USA 94(6): 2454-2459 [PMID: 9122216]. The epitope was selected from a phage displayed peptide library by mAb SYA/J6, which was elicited against LPS of Shigella flexneri.
A stronger response was observed after immunization with the delta3/MD10rec versus f8-5/MD10rec immunogen.
