Studies on the mechanism of the formation of the penicillin antigen. III. The N-(D-alpha-benzylpenicilloyl) group as an antigenic determinant responsible for hypersensitivity to penicillin G.
description:
The benzylpenicilloyl group (BPO) conjugated to human gamma globulin (HGG) elicited a skin reaction in rabbits immunized with benzylpenicillin potassium and assayed at 4 hours. Treatment of HGG-BPO with cysteine did not alter the reaction.
