name:
Structural definition of a conserved neutralization epitope on HIV-1 gp120.
description:
The epitope residues are calculated from the PDB structures [PDB: PDB 2NXY, 2NXZ, 2NY0, 2NY1, 2NY2, 2NY3, 2NY4, 2NY5, 2NY6] as antigen residues at 4Å
distance from the antibody.
Binding of the epitope-specific monoclonal antibody 17b to the wt HIV gp120 core and to variants constrained to stay in the CD4-bound conformation was measured by surface-plasmon resonance. The gp120 core protein had Gly-Ala-Gly tri-peptide substitutions for the V1/V2 and V3 loop regions.
