name:
A highly alpha-stereoselective synthesis of oligosaccharide fragments of the Vi antigen from Salmonella typhi and their antigenic activities.
description:
The epitope is a trisaccharide of GalANAc acetylated at position 3. It was synthesyzed to resemble the sugars contained in the Vi capsular polysaccharide of S. typhi, a linear homopolymer of (1&rarr
4)-alpha-D-GalpANAc, variably O-acetylated at the 3-position.
The epitope competed the binding of anti-Vi antisera to solid-phase Vi polysaccharide.
