The epitope specific mAb CR8020 neutralized the influenza virus, as well as other group 2 subtype viruses (H3,H4, H7, H10), but did not neutralize group 1 subtype influenza viruses, as shown by an in vitro microneutralization assay. Mutants D19N and G33E, also selected as Escape mutants selected with CR8020 carried mutation D19N or G33E, confirming their contribution to the epitope.
