Protein modification by deamidation indicates variations in joint extracellular matrix turnover.
|
| description: |
The epitope is the deaminated version (TFLKDTVMEC) of the natural sequence TFLKNTVMEC. The deamidation is predicted to occur naturally in the cartilage.
Out of 21 mAbs obtained after immunization with the epitope, 13 were found to be specific for the epitope in its deaminated form while 8 were reactive to both the deaminated epitope and the natural Asn64-containing variant peptide.
