name:
Trypanosoma cruzi trans-sialidase in complex with a neutralizing antibody: structure/function studies towards the rational design of inhibitors.
description:
The epitope-specific mAb 13G9 neutralized the activity of T. cruzi trans-sialidase. The Fab 13G9 exhibited a lower inhibition potency against the trans-sialidase activity compared to the intact mAb. MAb 13G9 recognized the active trans-sialidase and the inactive trans-sialidase form with a single Tyr342 mutation. MAb 13G9 inhibited the ability of trans-sialidase to transfer sialic acid to trypomastigotes in vitro.
