The epitope of Fab 10E5 on integrin alphaIIbß3 was determined from the crystal structure of the complex. Fab 10E5 binds solely to the alphaIIb cap subdomain and has no effect on its conformation. The inhibitor RUC-2 in 1 mM Ca2+ and 5 mM Mg 2+ was soaked into crystals of the soluble headpiece of integrin alphaIIbbeta3.
