The epitopic residue recognized by the antigenic D site-specific mAb 1D.G3 was determined by sequence analysis of mAb resistant (mar) TGEV PUR46 mutants selected by neutralizing the virus-antibody complex with a second anti-mouse Ig antibody. Mar mutants with substitution G385S were no longer bound by the mAb.
