description:	The epitope residues are conserved in mouse and american elk PrP, the sequences that were shuffled to generate the immunogen for the mAb, but with different positions. The positions given in the paper are those relative to the mouse sequence. The epitope-specific mAb reacted with Deer PrP, which harbors the epitope residues at positions 136 and 162, in Western blot. The deer PrP tested is shared (at least) by white-tailed deer (Odocoileus virginianus) and mule deer (Odocoileus hemionus).
