| name: |
Antigenic characterization of an intrinsically unstructured protein, Plasmodium falciparum merozoite surface protein 2.
|
| description: |
This epitope sequence is shared by strains 3D7 and FC27 of P. falciparum.
The epitope-specific mAb reacted with recombinant MSP2 from 3D7 and FC27 strains, both harboring the epitope, as seen by ELISA, Mass Spectometry and Western blot, but very weakly with parasite-derived FC27 MSP2 and not at all with the 3D7 parasite antigen. The reactivity to FC27 MSP2 antigen was enhanced by reduction, with no effect of reduction on the lack of reactivity to the 3D7 parasite antigen.
