name:
Broad and potent neutralization of HIV-1 by a gp41-specific human antibody.
description:
The epitope-specific mAb 10E8 neutralized a wide range of clonal variants of a 181-isolate HIV-1 Env pseudovirus panel. MAb 10E8 neutralized 98% of the tested pseudoviruses at an IC50 < 50 µg/ml and 72% at an IC50 < 1 µg/ml. MAb 10E8 neutralized a chimeric C1 virus, which contains the HIV-2 Env and the HIV-1 MPER. Alanine scanning of residues NWFDITNWLWYIR showed that positions N16, W17, F18, T21 and R28 in the epitope sequence were important for neutralization activity.
