name:
Designed glucopeptides mimetics of myelin protein epitopes as synthetic probes for the detection of autoantibodies, biomarkers of multiple sclerosis.
description:
The epitope was designed following a bioinformatics approach to display sequence and structural homology to human myelin proteins and to a previously characterized artificial glycopeptide with capacity to react with multiple-sclerosis patients' sera.
Significant higher titers to the epitope were obtained in 50 MS patients' sera than in 50 normal blood donors and 30 other neurological diseases patients.
