Treatment of DH82 monolayers with the epitope-specific antiserum before or after infection with E. chaffeensis lowered the bacterial load. The reduction in bacterial load observed with anti-epitope IgG was completely reversed by addition of recombinant TRP120 antigen as a competitor.
