Systemic vaccination with anti-oligomeric monoclonal antibodies improves cognitive function by reducing Abeta deposition and tau pathology in 3xTg-AD mice.
|
| description: |
Adoptive transfer of epitope-specific mAbs into 13 weeks old 3xTg-AD mice improved cognitive performance in mice. All of the mice that received the epitope-specific anti-oligomer antibodies demonstrated a significant improvement (p < 0.001) in the acquisition and retention of the Morris Water Maze test as compared to control IgG vaccinated mice. Vaccination with the mAb also reduced amyloid beta plaque accumulation and reduced both soluble and insoluble A beta 40 and A beta 42 levels. Reduction of total tau pathology and reduced microglial activation was also observed.
