The epitope-specific H5M9 IgG neutralized the influenza A virus (A/Vietnam/1194/2004(H5N1)), as shown by a plaque reduction assay. Escape mutant D53N, selected with H5M9, confers resistance to H5M9, confirming the importance of this contact residue.
