The epitope specific mAb 1A9 immunoprecipitated human SARS coronavirus HKU-39849 S protein from lysates of transfected 293 FT cells. The antibody showed reduced immunoprecipitation of S protein with mutation D1128A, identified in escape mutants selected in the presence of 1A9. S protein with another escape mutation N1056K did not show reduced recognition by 1A9.
